Iranian media, however, claim that Amiri has already signed a 2 years contract today.

Reports in Jahanbakhsh’s native Iran say the AZ Alkmaar winger has been pinpointed by Leicester as their preferred replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who this week departed for Manchester City in a £60million move.

“There has been interest, but not now.

“Let’s hope that there is very little interest for him, although I can not imagine that. Maybe he will stay with AZ for a year.”

Jahanbakhsh has two years left on his contract with the Dutch club.

Bernardo Silva of Portugal challenge for the ball with Milad Mohammadi of Iran during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Portugal at Mordovia Arena on June 25,...

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in potentially making a move to sign Iran star Milad Mohammadi this summer as Steven Gerrard looks to take his number of signings into double figures.

The Gers have managed to strengthen all over the pitch during this window, with Lassana Coulibaly and Umar Sadiq becoming the Scottish Premiershipside’s latest acquisitions, with both men arriving on loan for the coming campaign.

And it appears that signing number 10 may be in Gerrard’s sights. The Scottish Sun reports that the Gers are weighing up a pursuit of Mohammadi, who was part of the Iran side that featured at the World Cup in Russia. The 24-year-old is undoubtedly most famous for his attempted throw-in the group clash with Spain that involved a forward flip, but did not actually lead to the ball leaving the full-back’s hands.

The Scottish Sun adds that he is expected to cost at least £2 million and a work permit is unlikely to be an issue if Rangers do decide to make a move and get close to finalising a deal at some stage.

Milad Mohammadi of Iran tackles Marco Asensio of Spain during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Spain at Kazan Arena on June 20, 2018 in Kazan, Russia.

Interestingly, Mohammadi is predominantly a left-back who can also play on the right-hand side of the defence or slightly further forward as a left winger.

Tehran: Islamic Republic of Iran head coach Carlos Queiroz has stressed on the importance of preparing early ahead of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 in January.

Iran are in Group D alongside Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam and Queiroz said that in order to succeed in Asia’s most prestigious competition, Iran must prepare themselves to take on the best.

“We will have to play against Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and the big Asia football powers like Japan, Korea Republic and Australia in the Asian Cup. Some people think that the tournament will be easy after what we did in the FIFA World Cup, but it’s not.”

Referring to the fans’ expectations after Team Melli’s performance in Russia, Queiroz stressed the importance of paying attention to the requirements of the national team before another difficult competition.

“We will face opponents who have started their development from 30 years ago. We need the facility to prepare our team for the Asian Cup if we really want to be successful in the competition.

“Let’s talk about Japan. You will not have a good chance of beating a country which started its development 40 years ago just 15 days ahead of the competition.”

The Portuguese said Iran deserved more credit for exceeding expectations at the FIFA World Cup.

Team Melli narrowly missed reaching the Round of 16 after a 1-1 draw with Portugal in Group B left them in third place.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped us get to this point. I want to thank everyone who’s given the ultimate sacrifice. You made the Iranian people proud and happy.”
