Carlos Queiroz contract offers

The head of the Algerian football federation, Khidir al-Din Zatshi, has categorically denied that his federation had any contacts with the Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz , for the purpose of taking over the job of head coach of National football team of Algeria instead of the local hero , Rabih Madjir who was sacked last month.

“I have not contacted the Portuguese coach of Iran Carlos Queiroz to offer him the job of the national team coach and I am also not aware of anyone from my federation carrying out such contacts” Zatshi, confirmed in a short interview with (Al-Nah'ar) newspaper.

There has been various reports of such contacts recently which the Iranian media has also carried over.

No further details were given.

Biravand is no show for Persepolis training.

The pre-season training of Persepolis has reached the final stage, while there is no news from their number one goalkeeper according to reports from the club.

Alireza Beiranvand has a mandatory two weeks off as a member of Team Melli squad that competed in the FIFA 2018 World Cup. The rest, which ended on Sunday, however the Team Melli guardian did not show up for Persepolis yesterday's training. Beiranvand's absence has upset Branko Ivankovic, and he informed the club's managers to sort out Beiranvnd's situation as soon as possible.

The Persepolis head coach made it clear to the management that if Beiranvand does not attend the training by the end of the week, he can not be picked for the senior team and will be benched.

The Persepolis goalie is determined to seek contracts and consider his foreign offers and then to attend the training. But the Persepolis club is against this and explicitly stated that it will not sell him until the end of the half season.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh targeted by Leicester City as Riyad Mahrez replacement - reports

Alireza Jahanbakhsh is the latest name to be linked with a transfer to Leicester City.

Reports in Jahanbakhsh’s native Iran say the AZ Alkmaar winger has been pinpointed by Leicester as their preferred replacement for Riyad Mahrez, who this week departed for Manchester City in a £60million move.

Some outlets go as far to say Jahanbakhsh is set to fly to England to undergo a medical with a €22m (£19.5m) offer accepted.

The 24-year-old is hot property after a superb campaign for AZ, scoring 21 goals in 33 games from the right wing to finish as the Eredivisie’s top scorer. He also provided 12 assists.

Following AZ’s third-place finish in the Netherlands, Jahanbakhsh headed to Russia for the World Cup and was a member of the Iran side that came agonisingly close to escaping a group which included Spain and Portugal.

Earlier this week, AZ technical director Max Huiberts said there was no current interest in Jahanbakhsh.

“It would be very nice if he was on the field at that first Europa League match,” Huiberts told NH.

“There has been interest, but not now.

“Let's hope that there is very little interest for him, although I can not imagine that. Maybe he will stay with AZ for a year.”

Jahanbakhsh has two years left on his contract with the Dutch club.

Bernardo Silva of Portugal challenge for the ball with Milad Mohammadi of Iran during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Portugal at Mordovia Arena on June 25,...

According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in potentially making a move to sign Iran star Milad Mohammadi this summer as Steven Gerrard looks to take his number of signings into double figures.

The Gers have managed to strengthen all over the pitch during this window, with Lassana Coulibaly and Umar Sadiq becoming the Scottish Premiershipside's latest acquisitions, with both men arriving on loan for the coming campaign.

And it appears that signing number 10 may be in Gerrard's sights. The Scottish Sun reports that the Gers are weighing up a pursuit of Mohammadi, who was part of the Iran side that featured at the World Cup in Russia. The 24-year-old is undoubtedly most famous for his attempted throw-in the group clash with Spain that involved a forward flip, but did not actually lead to the ball leaving the full-back's hands.

The Scottish Sun adds that he is expected to cost at least £2 million and a work permit is unlikely to be an issue if Rangers do decide to make a move and get close to finalising a deal at some stage.

Milad Mohammadi of Iran tackles Marco Asensio of Spain during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia group B match between Iran and Spain at Kazan Arena on June 20, 2018 in Kazan, Russia.

Interestingly, Mohammadi is predominantly a left-back who can also play on the right-hand side of the defence or slightly further forward as a left winger.

Monday, July 9, 2018

Tehran: Islamic Republic of Iran head coach Carlos Queiroz has stressed on the importance of preparing early ahead of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 in January.

Iran are in Group D alongside Iraq, Yemen and Vietnam and Queiroz said that in order to succeed in Asia’s most prestigious competition, Iran must prepare themselves to take on the best.

“We will have to play against Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and the big Asia football powers like Japan, Korea Republic and Australia in the Asian Cup. Some people think that the tournament will be easy after what we did in the FIFA World Cup, but it’s not.”

Referring to the fans’ expectations after Team Melli's performance in Russia, Queiroz stressed the importance of paying attention to the requirements of the national team before another difficult competition.

“We will face opponents who have started their development from 30 years ago. We need the facility to prepare our team for the Asian Cup if we really want to be successful in the competition.

“Let’s talk about Japan. You will not have a good chance of beating a country which started its development 40 years ago just 15 days ahead of the competition.”

The Portuguese said Iran deserved more credit for exceeding expectations at the FIFA World Cup.

Team Melli narrowly missed reaching the Round of 16 after a 1-1 draw with Portugal in Group B left them in third place.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped us get to this point. I want to thank everyone who's given the ultimate sacrifice. You made the Iranian people proud and happy.”

Queiroz contract is renewed ; FFIRI claims !

Abdul Kazem Taleghani, a member of the Football Federation Executive Committee, claimed that Queiroz's contract has been extended to the AFC Asian Cup 2019, and there is hope that the Team Melli head coach's contract will be extended to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

Mehdi Taj has long claimed that the federation will continue to co-operate with the Portuguese coach, while foreign media reports indicate the end of the partnership between Queiroz and the Iranian Football Federation. Carlos Queiroz, however, left Tehran to Lisbon without any comments on the subject matter, thus strongly strengthening the speculation about the end of the long partnership with Iranian football.

Abdul Kazem Taleghani, in an interview with ISNA, briefed the news agency about the Executive Committee's meeting of the Football Federation. When asked about Queiroz's contract and the willingness of Queiroz to continue  working with the national team, he said " through Mahdi Taj. we have learned that his (Queiroz) contract has been extended and everything that he (Mehdi Taj) tells us is a proof as far as we are concerned (...). . As far as I know, the contract is valid until the AFC Asian Cup 2019, but I hope it will be extended to 2022 and he will be in the Qatar World Cup."

Taleghani continued "Mahdi Taj is has the full authority in negotiating with Queiroz , and we support his decisions because we trust his judgment bout the national team."

The FFIRI board member was asked when will Queiroz return to Iran  "Mr. Saket is in charge of Team Melli m he is Carlos Queiroz direct boss. Although he has just been on vacation and now needs to rest."

The merry go around or the cat and mouse game between Queiroz and Iran's Football Federation has been on going for years. Queiroz has mastered the politics of Iranian football and has successfully navigated all the crises, much of it were started by himself. His popularity amongst the fans is on the rise and he is fully taking advantage of that. On the rise are also his contractual demands and his fierce attacks on his opponents, mainly but not limited to , Branko Ivankovic.  His demand is very clear, either a 4 years contract extension or he will pack his bags and leave.
