Shojaei was a squad member of Team Melli in the Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar.
After a career threatening injury , Shojaee was off football for nearly two season. After he recovered, Osasuna released and eventually the midfielder joined Las Palmas in the second Division of the Spanish League.

After the World Cup , Shojaei struggled to find a club since his contract with Las Palmas was finished and neither side had interest in renewing.
