Iran Futsal thrashes Maldives 17-0

Iran’s national futsal team defeated the Maldives 17 – 0  in their first match of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers.

This was the first official match for the new coach Vahid Shamsaei the holder of the record goals scored at the international level.

Iran got their title defence off to a fantastic start, beating Maldives 17-0 with eight different players finding the back of the net.

Salar Aghapour opened the scoring in the fifth minute and got his second in the 15th minute. Hamzeh Kadkhoda also scored twice – in the 34th and 35th minutes – while Masound Yousef Shavardazi got his brace with back-to-back efforts in the 37th minute.

Mohammadhossein Derakhshani, Mahdi Karimi and Alireza Rafiei Poir also got into the goalscoring action with a goal each in the sixth, 20th and 38th minutes respectively.

Hossein Tayebi secured a hat-trick with goals in the 11th, 25th and 26th minutes, but the most valuable player was surely Saeid Ahmadabbasi with five goals to his name – two in the 20th minute, his hat-trick in the 23rd minute, before adding two more in the 33rd minute.

Iran will look to continue their fine form against Turkmenistan on Monday, while Maldives will have to bounce back against Kyrgyz Republic.

Tayyebi’s super goal for Benfica.

Futsal Team Melli player, Hossein Tayyebi scored a goal a stir in the sport’s media this week.

Benfica’s Futsal team defeated Hungarian side Haladás 8-3 in the Futsal Champions League on Wednesday. The real talk of the town is the incredible goal scored by Benfica’s Hossein Tayyebi. The Iranian pulled out some exquisite trickery to score Benfica’s third goal. Check out this Tayyebi goal.

Read some of the reactions to Tayyebi’s magic goal.

I don’t know if this trick has been done in the history of the sport. From this moment forward I will call it the Iranian Top-Tier Cranium. Tayyebi can change the name if he so chooses.”

The 33-year-old has a litany of futsal awards in his career, including a third-place finish with Iran at the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup. This fancy trick of his with Benfica might just be his finest.”

If there’s a cheesy “Tricks and Skills” video of a player with some awful non-copyright music playing in the background, then that player has made it. The good news for Tayyebi is that he qualifies for this”

An incredible definition was scored by Benfica in the futsal Champions League.

One of the most spectacular goals could be seen in the futsal Champions League and it was courtesy of Benfica’s player, Hossein Tayebi, who got a point thanks to a display of incredible skill in a definition that was difficult to see again and added to the little angle he had.

The Iranian received the ball close to the baseline and had his back to the goal, so he decided to solve in a spectacular way by turning around controlling his right leg and having a small space, he fired with his left to send it to the back of the net.

On the court, everyone was amazed at the incredible resource that the Asian brought up with his resolution. The rivals were obviously impressed and incredulous as his teammates ran to congratulate him on the impressive technical gesture that served to mark the temporary 3-1.

Nazem Al-Sharia happy with the performance of Futsal Team Melli.

In a post-match interview, Seyed Mohammad Nazem Al-Sharia, the Head Coach of Futsal Team Melli commented on the loss to Argentine in the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 and qualification to the Round of 16 as the second team in Group F,

“The game against Argentina was a good match for us and one of the reasons was that the sensitivity of the Game and stress level was low as we both have already qualified. In this match, we did not go full throttle as we did not need to. It was important for us that no player gets a card and is none get injured.” Nazem Al-Sharia said.

He continued: “The referee disallowed our equalizing goal. The situation of the match would have seen a different outcome if this goal was allowed. With second place in the group, we now have to meet Uzbekistan. In my opinion, Uzbekistan is no different from Paraguay and is even better than this team.”

“The advantage of meeting Uzbekistan is that it is an Asian team and we know this opponent quite well.”  The head coach of the Iranian national futsal team stressed that his team should not underestimate Uzbekistan, noting that Uzbekistan has made a lot of progress in the last few years and has played 18 very good preparation games before the World Cup. They played against Iran, Venezuela, Argentina, and Portugal and participated in the tournament in Thailand. Uzbekistan even camped in Spain.

” I do not want to under or overestimate this team, but we have to be careful.” Nazim al-Sharia emphasized

in response to the question of what is the strength of the Uzbek team that Iran should pay attention to? “Uzbekistan is a tactical team,” he said. “They also work well on free kicks and even score good goals this way.” Nazim al-Sharia added.

Commenting on the goal by Hassanzadeh against World Champions Argentina, he went on to say ” About that “chip” goal of Hassanzadeh, Asghar is a world-class international player. Those who said that the age of the national team players has increased should also watch this goal. This player has experienced four World Cup tournaments and showed how professional and international he is scoring such a unique goal”

Nazim al-Sharia elaborated on the disallowed goal against Argentina: “This goal was disallowed by the new FIFA rules. Alireza Rafieipour was in the defensive wall of the Argentine team when he hit the ball, and this is a foul in itself. Anyway, we had a plan for this freekick, and the players executed it to perfection, except for the foul.”

About the injury list, Nazim al-Sharia commented on the situation of Hossein Tayebi, Iran star striker, and whether he will be able to play against Uzbekistan or not: “Tayebi will be scanned today to see how the player is doing.”

Prolific Iran maintain futsal hegemony

  • IR Iran build on FIFA Futsal World Cup bronze with another Asian crown
  • Sixteen-nation event held in Chinese Taipei for first time
  • Iranian Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh named tournament’s best player

Competition for Asian supremacy in eleven-a-side football is finely balanced as evidenced by the finale to last year’s FIFA World Cup qualifying in the world’s most populous continent. The same cannot be said on the futsal court, however, as IR Iran once again underlined their supremacy in emphatic fashion.

The Iranians stormed to a 12th continental victory in Chinese Taipei on Sunday, retaining the title they reclaimed two years ago. Only Japan have broken Iran’s stranglehold, winning on three occasions, but the east Asians had no answer in the tournament decider this time. Iran proved their breakthrough third-place finish at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 was no fluke, with an unusually heavy 4-0 scoreline in the decider.

Broad reach throughout Asia
A total of 30 teams from all corners of Asia competed in the qualifying competition, demonstrating the growing appeal of the game across much of the continent. Chinese Taipei hosted the event for the first time, though they previously welcomed the globe’s best for the Futsal World Cup in 2004.

That 30-strong crowd was cut to 16 teams for the ten-day event in New Taipei City. Much focus was, of course, on the home side but locals were to be left frustrated with Chinese Taipei edged out of qualification by Bahrain, despite a win over Malaysia. Vietnam topped the group, but there was to be disappointment for the south-east Asians as the 2016 semi-finalists were eliminated by Uzbekistan.

There was no surprises as Japan and Iran shaded Uzbekistan and Iraq as all four progressed from their respective groups. Lebanon, meanwhile, were arguably the surprise packages. Despite having never reached a continental semi-final, Lebanon defeated 2015 semi-finalists Thailand 5-2 to top their group. The Cedars’ luck, however, ran out in the knockout stage with a heartbreaking 9-8 penalty shoot-out defeat against Iraq.

Iran’s accolades

  • Most individual goals: Hossein Tayebi (14)
  • Most team goals: 46
  • Tournament’s best player: Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh

Japan eased past Iraq with a 3-0 scoreline in the first semi-final, while Iran crushed Uzbekistan 7-1. Despite the lop-sided scoreline in the final, it was Japan who had the better of early exchanges only for some profligacy in front of goal to prove costly.

The tournament’s best player Ali Hassanzadeh scored with just a minute remaining remaining of the half, before the Iranians finished in style by scoring a further three to wrap up their title defence.

“Yes, it was a little bit difficult at first in the game, but I was 100 per cent confident that we would pull through and score the goals we needed to win,” said IR Iran’s Alireza Rafieipor. “This victory is just the starting point for us. From now we are focused on 2020 [World Cup]. We are number three in the world and everyone is expecting us to get even better.”

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS..

Team Melli Futsal confirmed its continental superiority after it won the AFC Futsal Championship Title after defeating Japan 4 – 0  this evening in Taipei.

Iran has now won the title for the 12th time and has also successfully defended its last championship crown.

The first half ended 1-0 for Team Melli when a late strike by Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh broke the deadlock.

The Asian MVP , Hassanzadeh opened the scoring early in the 2nd half to make it 2-0 .

Farhad Tavakoli added a third while Hossein Tayebi consolidated his position as the top scorer of the championship with Iran’s 4th goal to make his tally 13 goals.

Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh won the Championship Top Accolade, to make it a hat trick of titles for Team Melli.

Taipei:

Iran are one step closer to defending their AFC Futsal Championship title after beating Thailand 9-1 in the quarter-finals on Thursday at the Xinzhuang Stadium.

The defending champions produced a dominant performance, taking a five-goal lead in the first half with strikes from Ahmed Esmaeilpour, Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh and Hossein Tayebi.

Thailand’s Jirawat Sornwichian found one back but further goals from Mahdi Javid and Mohammad Shajari, sealed a comprehensive win for Iran.

Iran took the lead just 10 seconds into the match with Hassanzadeh’s long range pass finding Esmaeilpour, who made no mistake with a left-footed shot.

It was just the beginning for the title holders as Esmaeilpour scored his second in the fourth minute when he intercepted a pass and surged down the middle, before hitting home.

Hassanzadeh turned goalscorer less than 30 seconds after the restart from a set-play, tapping the ball in from close range, before Tayebi made it 4-0 in the sixth minute, courtesy of Farhad Tavakoli’s swift pass.

ASEAN champions Thailand’s first real chance came in the 10th minute with Madyalan aiming for the top left but Ali Reze Samimi palmed the the ball away.

Thailand conceded again in the 17th minute with Tayebi’s superb ground shot to the bottom right corner.

There was to be no respite for the Southeast Asians as Javid etched his name on the scoresheet two minutes into the second half, but Thailand’s five-men assault team avoided a whitewash with Sornwichian finding the back of the net moments later.

Shajari restored Iran’s six-goal lead in the 25th minute with a simple tap in, and as Thailand piled on the pressure in search of goals, they were hit again.

Tayebi completed his hat-trick in the 36th minute, before Shajari struck the final goal of the match.

Iran will face the winners of the Vietnam-Uzbekistan quarter-final, which will be played later on Thursday.

Mohammed Nazemasharieh: Iran Head Coach

“There were some good reasons for our win. Firstly, we had a meeting with our players, because we weren’t satisfied with their performance against Iraq and told them to have better concentration. And we also analysed Thailand’s performance in this and other tournaments. Thailand have been one of the best teams in Asia, and have been one of Iran’s rivals since 20 years ago, and we really respect them. I will say it again, the Iranian team play with our hearts.  We have a vision, it started in 2016 Colombia. We started with some new players, and are aiming for the 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup. We aren’t only representatives of Iran in that competition, but of Asia as well. Whatever way we can improve, we will try to reach there.”

Jose Maria Pazos: Thailand Head Coach

“There was no game. Once they scored the first goal in the opening seconds, it was over. It was important to keep the concentration, but we lost that in the first few minutes after conceding three goals in four minutes. The score reflects our performance. Maybe our mental preparation was not there, and making one mistake after another against Iran meant it’s over. We showed two faces in this tournament, our really good and bad. We showed today that we are not ready to face a team like Iran. Now we must analyse what was the problem here. We need to know why we have two faces, and find a stable level. This tournament is the first tournament for some of our players, and the last for some, and we need to fix the problems we have in this tournament, ahead of 2020.”

Azerbaijan, Iran share spoils to advance.

Azerbaijan and Iran shared an exciting 3-3 draw on Sunday with the result seeing both teams advance from Group F in second and third place respectively.

On three occasions the two teams exchanged goals in quick succession with neither able to gain a break on their opponents, in what was an entertaining contest in Medellin.

Iran entered the contest trailing their rivals on goal difference, and perhaps it was they who seemed marginally more enterprising in attack during the early stages.

Indeed Iran opened the scoring just a minute into the contest after some great combination play ended with Ahmad Esmaeilpour firing high past an exposed goalkeeper. However, and in keeping with what was to be a theme, Azerbaijan quickly drew level as Gallo corner volley was deflected into the net.

The match settled into an entertaining and fast-tempo affair, with Mehran Alighadr hitting the post for Iran, while at the other end Eduardo pinged a shot against the crossbar after attempting to lob the keeper.

The second half commenced just like the first half with an exchange of goals. Farhad Tavakoli converted at the second attempt for Iran, while the always lively Gallo fired home with hard direct shot after a corner.

Azerbaijan were arguably having the better of the second half and went ahead through Gallo only for Iran’s Hossein Tayebi to end the scoring.

Iran, seeking to leapfrog their opponents into second, played with a flying goalkeeper in the latter stages and were nearly rewarded for their endeavour as Esmaielpour hit the post and Javid narrowly failed to convert the follow-up.

The result places Team Melli Futsal team in third place behind Spain and Azerbaijan on goal difference. The bad news is that the next round opponent will be title contender Brazil. The round of 16 match against Brazil will be on 21 September. The last time the two team met , it was a thrilling affair in the finals match of the Brazil Grand Prix which ended 4-3 for the host nation .

Futsal teams departs to Bogota with great expectations.

Asian Futsal Champion, Iran departed to Bogota to participate in the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 with great expectation.

Iran goes into the FIFA Futsal World Cup with significant momentum, claiming the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship where they racked up an incredible 48 goals.  This is the sixth appearance for Futsal Team Melli in the World Cup which is now ranked in the top 5 teams in the FIFA Ranking.

Seyed Mohammad Nazemalsharieh will be hoping to lead his team to the final rounds of the competition after some sterling performances in the previous World Cup. Only two teams in the world had more participation in the FIFA Futsal World Cup than Iran’s 6 times. Both Brazil and Spain took part in 7 edition of the  FIFA  Futsal World Cup.

Reunion time
Iran will be up against some familiar faces in the group stage of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016, where they will take on not just Spain but also Morocco, whom Tayebi and Co edged past four years ago. Their third opponents, meanwhile, will be somewhat more of an unknown quantity in Azerbaijan.

The Asian champions will once again be kicking off against Spain, on this occasion in Medellin on 12 September. Tayebi stressed that he and his team-mates will be gunning for victory in this heavyweight bout: “I can assure you that every time the Iranian national futsal team enter the pitch, we do so to win, because we’re among the world’s powerhouses in this sport. We respect the Spaniards but we want to win our first match in Colombia. Encounters between Spain and Iran are always spectacular and tight affairs, but we’re determined to get the win.”

“We know that Azerbaijan have a strong team, even though we’ve never faced them,” he continued. “The coaching staff have watched two of their games, though, and told us that they play some good stuff. As I said before, we play to win and that match will be no exception.”

Despite his confidence in his own side’s abilities, Tayebi is nevertheless mindful that several other countries have kicked on in recent years and so it will prove a tough task for Iran to achieve their goal of advancing to at least the last four.

“I think most teams’ level has improved, which means the competition will be stiff and there will be no easy games. There are no favourites on paper and every side will be made to work hard for wins.”

“We’re going to do our best to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup and play with heart. We respect all the other teams a great deal, but we’re determined to succeed.”

Shamsaei thanks God

Inspired by Shamsaee
Tayebi is hopeful that the strike he bagged in Thailand four years ago will not be his last on the world stage, although collective glory remains his number-one target. “I was delighted to find the net against Spain. It was the most important goal of my career. Scoring at a World Cup is something unforgettable for any player,” he said, before quickly clarifying that, “As far as I’m concerned, the team’s success comes before my scoring statistics.”

“It’s exciting to see your name on the scoresheet in a World Cup match but, like I said, the team’s targets are more important. The fact that I’ve scored at a World Cup before shows that I can play my part within the group.”

In his eagerness to do his bit and perform his role with aplomb, Tayebi is inspired by the example of former Iran stars such as ex-national team captain Vahid Shamsaee, whom he described as “one of the best players in futsal history”.

“Vahid is a real legend and I have tremendous respect for him. He’s a great man who had a lot of success in his career. I’m proud to be his compatriot. I love the way he played and I’m going to try to follow in his footsteps by living long in all the Iranian fans’ memories.”

Colombia 2016 could provide the perfect platform for Tayebi to fulfil this dream by not just adding to his World Cup goal tally, but accomplishing something that not even the great Shamsaee was able to – helping his country through to the semi-finals of the global showpiece.

This year’s competition will be a total of 6 groups in the competition with each group having four teams. After the group stages, the top 2 teams from each group will proceed to the knockout stage along with the 4 highest ranked third place finishers.

Solid preparations

11 times Asian Champion Iran team has been actively preparing for the FIFA Futsal World Cup for over 4 months and played several tough matches. In Mashad, Team Melli played two matches against fellow qualifiers Uzbekistan with convincing wins 3-0 and 6-3 for Iran. Earlier, Iran participated in a 4 nation Futsal tournament in Thailand, where they drew with Kazakhstan 3-3, lost to Thailand 7-5 and beat Japan 4-2.

Iran Futsal to the final after a bone crushing defeat of Vietnam.

Futsal Team Melli reached the final of the AFC Futsal Championship 2016 with a commanding win against surprise semi-finalist Vietnam. Iran’s 13-1 win was one of the biggest semi final margins in the history of the competition. The first half ended 7-1 for Team Melli.

Vietnam paid the price of naivety of their coach. Their quarter-final win against defending champion Japan, led to unrealistic , though legitimate belief in the team that they can conquer Iran.

However, It was clear from the first few minutes of the match that Vietnam cannot match Team Melli for skills and technique.

In the pre-match press conference , the ambitious Spanish coach Bruno Formoso said his team was looking beyond Iran and into the final. However, he failed to analyse the opposition properly and his plans went tragically wrong as his team was 3-0 down in less than 9 minutes in the 1st half. The major mistake was playing offensively against Iran and trying to match them for ball possession and attack.

Mahdi Javid opened the scoring for Iran before Farhad Tavakoli scored two quick goals to put Team Melli comfortably 3-0 ahead.

After the 3rd goal, Vietnam coach asked for a time out where he decided to play with all players in the filed ( 5 -0)  to score at least one goal against the mighty Iranians. Again , Vietnam players simply could not match the Iranians.

Despite the fact that Iran’s coach was revolving and playing all his squad, Nazim AlSharia  mainly used the reserve restig the likes of Taheri, Tayebi, Hassanzadeh and Keshavarz.

Vietnam brave resistance fell apart in the second half as Ahmadi , Hossein Tayebi , Mahdi Javid and Tavakoli  (scoring  his 4 goals) , Keshavarz  added another 6 goals in the second half for Team Melli.  Vietnam could not add to that solitary goal scored in the first half.

Iran’s injured Captain Mohammed Keshavarz , returned to the team and played the last 10 minutes helping himself to two goals in the process.

Iran will be meeting Uzbekistan in the Finals for a repeat of the for 2010 championship edition when the mighty Iranians defeated the host 8-3 in front of the passionate Uzbek fans.

Tayebi and Hassanzadeh claim individual awards

Ho Chi Minh City: Iran duo Hossein Tayebi and Asghar Hassanzadeh claimed the individual awards at the AFC Futsal Championship despite Jesus Candelas’ side losing Saturday’s final on penalties to Japan.

Tayebi’s 15th goal of the campaign had given Iran a 2-1 lead in the first half of extra-time at Phu Tho Stadium only for Japan to equalsie through an own goal from Hamid Ahmadi before posting a 3-0 win in the shootout.

Hassanzadeh had also been amongst the goals after finding the net eight times as Iran reached the final with a 100% record, and his efforts were rewarded by being named the tournament’s MVP while also finishing as joint runner-up behind team-mate Tayebi on the goalscoring chart.

The 26-year-old Hassanzadeh, who was the top scorer at the 2011 AFC Futsal Club Championship, scored two hat-tricks in Vietnam to help Iran score 52 goals in six games.

Japan’s Nobuya Osodo and Iran’s Vahid Shafiei joined Hassanzadeh on eight goals, with Kuwait’s Abdulrahman Al Taweel fifth on the list after his seven goals helped his side reach the semi-finals before losing Saturday’s third place play-off to Uzbekistan.
