Team Melli squad landed at Imam Khomeini Airport in the early hours of the morning.

The squad was met at the CIP lounge by the Minister of Sport and dignitaries plus a large number of players family members. Three players were missing from Squad as Beitashour proceeded directly to USA, while Dejagah and Davari headed home tp England and Germany respectively.

Carlos Queiroz was also travelling with the squad to Tehran, paid tribute to the work of his team and players and believed that he left a lasting impression on the football. In a short speech , he expressed his gratitude for the Minister of Sport and other official who came to the airport to greet the sqaud. It is unclear whether his contract has expired or still has a few days to run. When confronted by the reporters if he has said his goodbye to Iran, Queiroz evaded the question and answered something unrelated.
