Alireza Jahanbakhsh reveals why he was adamant to join Feyenoord.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh has ended his three-year spell at Brighton and returned to the Netherlands to join Feyenoord on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old joined the Seagulls in July 2018 and made 61 appearances, scoring four goals.

He now returns to the Netherlands, to link up with the Rotterdam outfit, who will be hoping he can rediscover the form which saw Brighton bring him over to England for a record club transfer fee.

In his first spell in Eredivisie with NEC and AZ Alkmaar, Jahanbakhsh made 112 appearances, scoring 39 goals and picking 31 assists in the process.

Brighton head coach Graham Potter said: “Ali has been a very good professional and great to work with, but this move is a good one and gives him the chance of more regular game time, which is not something we are able to guarantee.

“I’d like to thank Ali for his hard work during my time here and wish him all the best for the future.”

Jahanbakhsh will wear the number nine shirt for Feyenoord, which has previously been sported by club legends such as Henrik Larsson, Julio Cruz, Graziano Pelle, Roy Makaay, and Pierre van Hooijdonk to name just some.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh has revealed the key role Feyenoord manager Arne Slot played in him returning to the Netherlands.

Slot was assistant manager at AZ Alkmaar to John van den Brom during Jahanbakhsh’s time at the club.

But the Iranian international revealed that when Slot expressed his interest in signing him for Feyenoord, he was determined to make the move happen.

He told the club’s official website: “During my time at AZ as an assistant coach, Arne Slot was one of the people who helped me to become a better player. So when he called and asked if I wanted to come to Feyenoord, I told him I was going to do everything I could to make this transfer. I had no doubts.”

Feyenoord’s sporting director Frank Arnesen believes Jahanbakhsh could become a valuable player for them.

He said: ‘With Alireza we add the desired offensive reinforcement to the selection. A player who has proven to achieve a high return for several seasons. Moreover, he is now in the phase of his career where he can quickly be of enormous added value to us.”

Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley are among the clubs closely following Iran international winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

The 23-year-old has been starring for AZ Alkmaar in Holland but they will consider selling this summer for around £9million.

Jahanbakhsh can play across the front line and was first touted to make a major breakthrough by former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz who called him into Iran’s 2014 World Cup squad.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Celtic, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven followed him when he initially moved to Holland with NEC where he won their player of the year but he opted instead to move to AZ in 2015.

Technically good on both feet and with an eye for a pass, Jahanbakhsh has continued to attract Premier League scouts this season with his assists and nine goals, some of which have been spectacular.

Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley have all shown an interest and are weighing up whether to make an offer over the coming weeks.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh tranfers to AZ Alkmaar

Team Melli winger Alireza Jahanbakhsh has left his club NEC on a transfer to  AZ Alkmaar. The 21-year-old attacker will undergo medical examination in Alkmaar on Tuesday 4th August

AZ said Monday on the club website that both the player and NEC has reached a verbal agreement on the transfer. Jahanbakhsh will sign for five years with the number three in the Eredivisie last season.

The Iranian had a terrific season last time out with twelve goals and seventeen assists playing an important role in the promotion of NEC to the Eredivisie League. It earned him the title of best player in the Jupiler League.

Jahanbakhsh has 15 international caps for Iran, and was in the squad for the FIFA World Cup of 2014, earlier in his career he played for two seasons with Damash Gilan in his homeland before his transfer to  NEC. In his first season he could not show his full potential despite five goals in 29 matches and suffered relegation from the Eredivisie

“Alireza was number one on our list,” said AZ technical director Earnie Stewart. “We only had to wait for the opportunity to invest in him. It is very nice that it’s come around this time.” Thus confirming earlier rumors that the club from Alkmaar has been chasing after Jahanbakhsh for some time now.

AZ Alkmaar, under Manager John van den Brom managed to finish the last season with 62 points in 3rd position behind Champions PSV and Ajax

The club has been recently managed by high profile managers Dick Advocaat (Oct 15, 2013–June 30, 2014) followed by Marco van Basten (June 30, 2014–Sept 16, 2014) before John van den Brom took over.

AZ Alkmaar, is currently competing in the Europa league and has beaten Istanbul Basaksehir 2-0 at home and will play the return leg in Istanbul on Thursday.

Jahanbasksh wins player of the year award and praise from Hiddink.

ROTTERDAM – Team Melli player Alireza Jahanbakhsh of NEC  was named best player of the first division 2015 by the Cooperative First Division (CED). The announcement occurred at the presentation of the Golden Bulls awards.

The attacker from Iran received on Tuesday at Castle at Sparta, the associated Golden Bull trophy. Also NEC striker Sjoerd Ars received a Golden Bull, as he was this season’s top scorer in the first division with 28 goals.

NEC coach Ruud Brood was nominated for the award for best coach, but closely lost to Jean-Paul de Jong of FC Eindhoven. Best talent was Joey Sleegers, also of FC Eindhoven. In that category were among others De Graafschap’s Dean Koolhof was nominated.

Hiddink expresses appreciation

National coach Guus Hiddink was also present at the ceremony. “If I’m honest; I have not seen all the season matches, but to be chosen by those who know everything about this, it is legitimate and authentic choice. “said the head coach of Holland, who nevertheless expressed his appreciation for Ars and Jahanbakhsh. “They are quite entertaining and skillful players to watch. One scores goals with ease, the other is very artistic and nice to see .”

Jahanbakhsh scores a brace against Champions Ajax

Ali Reza Jahanbakhsh came in from the bench on the 59th minute to score two goals against the Champions Ajax Amsterdam for his struggling team NEC Nijmegen in the  Eredivisie Dutch league.

NEC were trailing from minute 9 of the match in Amsterdam Arena from an own goal , before Jahanbaksh scored the equalizer on minute 74.

Ajax took the lead once again when ex-Barcelona winger Bojan Krkic scored with 7 minutes remaining. Jahanbaksh was the hero of the day when he equalized two minutes before the final whistle to make it 2-2. That vital goal by Jahanbakhsh ensured that NEC goes into the Relegation qualification rather than drop directly. In order top keep their place in the top league, NEC needs to beat RKC Waalwijk the team that is right above them in the table in a play off.

NEC Nijmegen finished ain the 17th place above Roda JC Kerkrade the team that was directly relegated.

The 20 years old Alireza Jahanbakhsh who joined the Dutch club at the beginning of the season has played 26 matches for NEC Nijmegen , mostly from the substitute bench, but scored 5 goals in the Eredivisie Dutch league. Jahanbakhsh will be certainly included by Queiroz in Team Melli squad for the upcoming Austrian camp starting next week. He is hopeful to make the final list of 23 players making Iran’s squad for the FIFA World Cup 2014

Jahanbakhsh scores a brace in NEC win.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh , the promising young Team Melli player, scored twice for his dutch club to record a rare win in the  Netherlands – Eredivisie .

Jahanbakhsh who has started the game  against AZ Alkmaar scored in 53rd  and then on the  72nd minutes  for a final result of a 3-2 win for the bottom of the table club. Jahanbakhsh received a yellow card after scoring his first goal and was substituted in the 90th minute.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh who scored his first international goal for Team Melli when he came in as a substitute against Thailand, is in a good run forcing himself as a stsrter for the Dutch club.

In another development for the Team Melli legionnaire , Ashkan Dejagah learned today afternoon that his manager has been sacked, Martin Jol , the Dutcg manager of FDulham was under intense pressure after a series of bad results which sent Fulham to the bottom of the table. Jol hardly utilized Dejagah much despite fans demand and his good displays whenever he played.
