IRAN to meet Brazil in the 2015 Futsal Grand Prix

Iran Futsal team continued its brilliant performance in Brazil with a hard win to maintain its perfect record in the the tournament.

In the semifinal of Grand Prix du Futsal 2015 , Iran defeated Paraguay 2-0, from goals by Mahdi Javid and Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh, to book a berth in the final.  This will be the third final of Grand Prix in the history of Iran’s national futsal team, which was runner-up in 2007 and 2009, losing both times to the host Brazil. The Iranians achieved this feat with a 100% success rate at the Grand Prix in 2015, with four wins in four games.

Iran was the better team throughout the match, but only managed to open the scoring at the end of the first half. The goal scorer was Mahdi Javid who shot from the right deceived the Paraguay keeper. Outnumbered, Paraguay went to all out attack in the second half, getting to work with the ward Tutu as goalkeeper-line in the final minutes. Two minutes from the end, Juan Salas had a chance to tie, but the keeper Kalamalabadi  saved Iran . To put the final nails in the Paraguayan coffin, Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh took his chance in a swift counter attack sequence and made it  2-0 for Iran confirming its place in the final.

Sweet revenge for Iran futsal against Colombia.

Iran men’s national futsal team registered its first victory at the group stage of the 10th edition of the Grand Prix de Futsal in Brazil, edging the Colombian Team.

On Wednesday evening, the Iranian futsal players defeated the South Americans 4-1 in their opening match played in Uberaba municipality, which is situated in the west of Brazil’s eastern state of Minas.

Hossein Tayyebi netted twice for the Asian side. Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh and Ahmad Esmaeilpour were also on target.

The Iranian futsal team will face Angola in its next game at the tournament on Thursday.

The 10th edition of the Grand Prix de Futsal opened in Uberaba, Brazil, on November 4, and will finish on October 8, 2015.

Iran’s national futsal team has been drawn in Group B of the international competition with Uruguay, Angola and Colombia.

“We are in a good group; however, it would be better if we face strong teams. We will try to have the best performance in Brazil,” said Iran head coach Mohammad Nazemosharia before the start of the sports event.

The Grand Prix de Futsal was first held in 2005, and is held annually in Brazil.

Brazil is the most successful team in the tournament with eight titles. Spain won the futsal competition once in 2010.

Iran finished runner-up once in 2007, and a second time in 2009. The Islamic Republic stood on the bronze podium in 2013 and 2014. It claimed the fourth place in 2010 and the following year
