Mohammad Panjali mocked Queiroz and claims that ” everybody thinks he (Queiroz) is the minister of sports!”
Persepolis football team manager says our football has not progressed and he is not confident at all that the future with Carlos Querioz is any better. “They have created so much hype around him that made many people so convinced that his not the coach, but The |Sports Minister of Iran.” Mohammad Panjali said in a short interview. “The problems of this nations’ football is beyond the capabilities of one person. If football is suspended for a few years to sort it out and put things in order , it is better than to continue struggling, do patch works here and there , and look sick .”
Muhammad Panjali in the interview with Mehr News Agency, commenting on Carlos Queiroz contract situation and the uncertainty of future national football team’s bench, stated “I said from the day one, our football complications cannot be solved by Queiroz. When we do not have adequate infrastructure and stadiums , do what can the likes of Queiroz do for us?”
He stressed that the World Cup squad was dispatched with a great deal of problems. “the team has not done anything special with Queiroz as a head coach. Only in one game I was impressed with Team Melli under Queiroz , and that was the return leg against the South Koreans. It was a good result, but it was also close to a miracle. The defense played well for 90 minutes and at the same we scored a goal against the run of play to defeat Korea. “
Persepolis Team Manager also noted “Football problems is Iran are not exactly great secrets. In the past few years, how many of our clubs competing in the Asian Champions League, reached the semifinals or finals? Which of the teams and stadium have recognized international standards? Does Persepolis or Esteghlal , the most popular clubs in Iran , have their own stadiums? What do we have or what have we achieved on and off the field to claim that we have professional football?”
Panjali said: “ Our football entity has reached to such a state that a coach like Queiroz holds us at ransom. Everyone thinks that he is the Minister of Sports and the director of football policy in Iran. He is strongly opinionated and wants everything in this country’s football to run according to his wishes. That is not surprising since they have largely hyped him up. We played in the World Cup and for all practical purposes, had three losses. Apart from defending and not very cleverly either when we really needed it, our team and players not have perform well nor did they have any particular skills.”
Asked if Querioz is not appointed as head coach , whom do you think should replace him
Panjali said “I would pick an Iranian coach, but give him the same facilities as thy are giving to Queiroz”
“We always rave in the media about our nationals and the advances they have made in the World of Science and technology, yet have we asked ourselves how come we cannot produce a decent football coach ?”
