Football at the 1994 Asian Games was held in Hiroshima, Japan from October 1 to October 17, 1994.
Iran was grouped with China, Turkmenistan, Bahrain and Yemen in Group A. With a loss against China and a solitary win against Yemen , Team Melli failed to make the next round and was ranked third in the group behind China and Turkmenistan. The most significant event of the games was the serious injury to the forward Ali Daei in a collision with Bahrain Goalkeeper which resulted in him being taken to hospital and 3 months away from football.
