Khalatbary sends a sublime message to Queiroz

MohammadReza Khalatbary inspired Sepahan , defeated Gostarish  Foolad Tabriz 4-1 to regain the leadership of the Persian Gulf League. Khalatbary helped himself to a hat trick beginning from the first few seconds of the match with less than a minute played when he scored from an acute angle after easily dribbling past two defenders to hammer the ball in the roof of the net.

Khalatbary scored his second with a lovely taken free kick immaculately sent to the furthest end from the hapless Gostarish goalkeeper.

In the second half, a bit of the old trickery and juggling by Khalatbary , lead to a foul on him in the penalty area. There was no doubt who was going to take the spot kick. Hadi Aghili, Sepahan’s Captain is the regular penalty taker, but a bit of a pleading by Khalatbary and a bit of common sense , gave the left footed winger his chance to complete his hat trick . Khalatbary, obliged and  chipped the ball while wrong footing Gostarish keeper.

It was a 5 star performance from Khalatbary who played a major role in Sepahan offensive onslaught on the team from Tabriz. Such inspiring performance augured well for Sepahan and Hossein Faraki in their quest to win the title once again. With Khalatbary at his best, it is difficult to see any defender catching up with him. The only black mark on this performance today was his temperament. The player has yet to learn from years of playing professional football and can be easily intimidated by the opposing team if they elect to play dirty against him.

Khalatbary , who was controversially omitted from Team Melli final list to the FIFA World Cup 2014 and never picked up after it again , played with grit and determination as he was on a mission. It was nothing but marvelous. He has also sent a clear message to Team Melli and Queiroz. With such a sterling performance, Khalatbary does not need to go to the media , shed tears, claims injustice ,  claim he is been robbed of his rightful place in Team Melli. The Sepahan winger did it in style and by letting his goals and performance do the talking. As luck has it, good old Carlos Queiroz was not in the Fooladshahr Stadium to witness the magic of Khalatbary.

In the post match press conference, Khalatbary was asked about the allegation on Kranjcar and his alcohol consumption. , he responded by saying ” I have the highest respect for this man. As a person and as a professional. I categorically reject any such accusations against him.  I have no idea who initiated such rumors, but I can assure you that it was none of Sepahan players or staff because we simply did not notice these alleged violation and consumption of alcohol. It is a shame when people resort to such dirty tricks against others, I feel sorry for those who tarnish the image of a genuine man”

Mohammdreza Khalatbary’s performance against Gostraish , was a breath of fresh for the disappointing Iranian football which has little to cheer about nowadays.

A special mention has to go to Ehsan Hajsafy. His performance and adaptability, surge of speed, shooting and crossing was a mark of a great player in the making. No doubt , Hajsfay is on the radar of many top teams in Europe.

“Ehsan HajSafy has not recived any offers from Europe” says Sepahan Spokesman

With rumors going around in Esfahan that Ehsan Hajsafy is on his way to Europe but Sepahan is standing against that move, the club official spokesman put an end to those rumors and flatly denied the existence of any offer from Europe.

“We have been hearing rumors that Hajsafy has an official invitation from a European club  and that Sepahan club is procrastinating until the transfer windows closes, in order to prevent that transfer “Rasoul Khoroush said in a statement to Mehr News yesterday.

“To start with , we have not  received any offer at all from any European club regarding Hajsafy. We do not need to lie about that either. Hajsafy is a valuable player and it goes without saying that we at Sepahan value him and will do our utmost to keep him in the club. However, if there is a god opportunity that comes his way from Europe, we shall not stand against the progress of his career.”

Ehsan Hajsafy , was one of the better players in Iran’s FIFA World Cup 2014 campaign and was expected to raise the interest of a few European clubs.

Sepahan , lost its 100% record yesterday when they list to Naft Tehran 3-0. The match saw Sepahan play one man short almost from the end of the first half. The end of the match was also dominated by some ugly scenes when the few visiting Sepahan fans in the stand started shouting verbal abuses at Khalatbary who reacted to these mistreatment and exchanged heated words with the fans.

Team melli defeats Trinidad & Tobago in the final test

Team Melli defeated Trinidad & Tobago 2-0 in the final preparation match for Queiroz’s players before the World Cup. The match was played behind closed doors at the Corinthians arena in Sao Paulo

Ehasan Hajsafy , scored on the stroke of halftime to put Team Melli 1-0 ahead.  From the right side corner,  Ehsan Hajisafi powered a right footer into the top right corner of the net leaving Trinidad Keeper Williams with no chance. The referee blows the half soon after.

Early in the second half on minute 50, Hoyte brought down Ashkan Dejagah in the box as the referee whistled for  penalty

Captain Javad Nekounam took the  penalty. Williams dived to his right to push away Nekounam’s shoot and the rebound grazed the upright and is cleared to safety.

three minutes later, Reza Ghoochannejad scored Team Melli’s second goal. Ghoochannejad runs onto a through ball as Iran breaks swiftly and slots past an advancing Williams. A typical trademark Gucci goal.

Iran had more of the game threatening from the flanks and had their opponent pressed all the time .

This is the first and only win of Team Melli in the preparation matches, and a timely one for that. Meanwhile , Nigeria lost against USA 2-1.

Queiroz excludes Sepahan players from Team Melli !

Sepahan players Out !

[row]
[column size=”1/2″] In an exclusive news carried by ISNA , Carlos Queiroz has decided to exclude all of the 6 Sepahan players from Team Melli camp in South Africa. It is not clear if the 6 players will be recalled for the next training camp in Austria, but if Queiroz stands by his decision and does not recall the players again for the World Cup , it will be crises in the making especially in the goalkeeping department where Rahman Ahmadi (34 years)  is currently the most experienced of the goal keepers in Iran by far and arguably the best.

Joining the squad will be two goalkeepers, Alireza Biranvand , the  22 years old Naft Tehran keeper who represented Team Melli at youth level but never at senior level and Hamed Lak  , 24 years old of Tractorsazi keeper who has just 1 cap against Yemen in WAFF tournament two years ago.

Rahman AHMADI , Omid EBRAHIMI, Ehsan HAJSAFY, Yaghoub KARIMI, and Shojaa KHALILZADEH are the 6 players who were named in the original Team Melli squad. These players were retained by their club because of  Sepahan’s commitment in the AFC Champions League. Esteghlal also held their 4 players from joining Team Melli squad , based on the same justification as Sepahan but Queiroz has spared theses players from his wrath and gave them a few days of rest before calling them to join the rest of the squad in Johannesburg.

Tractorsazi and Foolad Khuzestan positively responded to TEam Melli plans and sent their players to the airport but Queiroz asked them to return back to their clubs to play in the AFC Champions league matchday 5!

[/column]
[column size=”1/2″] It is believed that Queiroz had a meeting with his staff and came up with this decision. Sepahan has still to play one more match next week which is a decider. A win is crucial for them to qualify for the next round of the AFC Champions League while any other result will spell the end of their participation in this competition. Sepahan has not qualified for the next season edition of the AFC Champions league due to their failure to grab one of the 4 possible places for Iran.

In the absence of any official sources regarding this decision , it is very much hoped that Queiroz decision is temporary and sanity will prevail when the dust settles down. The dispute between Queiroz and the club coaches has been brewing for month because of the ill timing of Team Melli training camp arranged while 4 clubs are still involved with AFC Champions League. The clubs all insisted that they will stick to FIFA regulation and will not play in the Champions League without their best players.   This decision did not please Queiroz nor some FFIRI administrators who have threatened all sort of punishments for the clubs, without referring to the rules and regulations governing such players releases.

The most vocal opponent of Queiroz plans was none other than Zlatco Kranjcar, Sepahan’s Croat coach ,  who accused Queiroz shortsightedness in arranging his schedule. Kranjcar has repeatedly said from the onset of this issue arising that there is no way that he will release his players for Team Melli while the club is involved in an official competition and Sepahan will strictly apply FIFA rulings..
