Iran’s national futsal team squad departed Tehran this morning(Monday) after a one-day delay due to airspace closure heading to Bangkok via Istanbul (!!).
Iran is one of a few contenders for the title this year along with defending champions Japan, Uzbekistan, and host nation, Thailand. Futsal Team Melli is grouped with Afghanistan, Bahrain, and Kuwait in the preliminary rounds. Under Vahid Shamsaei, Iran will be determined to regain the crown it lost to Japan two years ago.
Team Melli will be missing Hossein Tayebbi due to injury but apart from that, the strongest team is aiming for the title led by veteran Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh and the star of the team Moslem Oladghobad, who is playing for the Spanish Primera Division de Futsal side, Palma.
