Amir Ghalenoei has announced the list of eight overseas-based players for the national football team's upcoming matches against Uzbekistan and Russia. Key highlights of the roster include the return of Sardar Azmoun and the exclusion of Mehdi Ghayedi, Saman Ghoddos, and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
The invited player to add to the current selection are :
Ali Nemati (Lusail, Qatar) ,
Mohammad Mohebi (Rijeka, Croatia),
Sardar Azmoun , Saeid Ezatolahi (Shabab Al-Ahli, UAE),
Mohammad Ghorbani (Al-Wehda, UAE) ,
Mehdi Taremi (Al-Wasl, UAE),
Dennis Eckert (Standard Liège, Belgium) ,
and Shahab Zahedi (Johor Darul Ta'zim, Malaysia)
Alireza Jahanbakhsh, having recently recovered from a brief injury spell, will not attend the camp as he works toward regaining full match fitness. Similarly, Saman Ghoddos will miss the current national team camp due to a back injury.
Allahyar Sayyadmanesh is another Iranian player based abroad who, despite his impressive form at Lech Poznań in Poland, has been ignored by Ghalenoei. Ali Gholizadeh, the other Iranian player in Lech Poznan is on a long-term injury and still recovering.
Also missing from the list is Mohammad Javad Hosseinnejad who is playing for the Russian club Dynamo Makhachkala .
