Humiliation and indignation of a person in public, is considered an offense punishable by law in every country of the world including Iran which has a strict law against such misdemeanor.
Last night on one of the most popular TV shows in Iran , a Ministry of Youth and sport official who was contacted by phone by Adel Ferdowsipour, the presenter of Navad, to explain the reasons behind the rejection of Zlatko Kranjcar as the Head Coach of Omid team , stated that his Ministry has rejected the Croat coach , not based on technical merits but on cultural issues because the Croat is an Alcoholic!
When challenged by the presenter if there are any evidences of such claims and whether it has been verified by a law force, Police or the judicial system, the Ministry of sports official responded that they have enough evidence against him although he was not prosecuted nor accused of any wrongdoing by a law force!
This public accusation in front of millions of viewers carried out without giving the accused person the right to defend himself , which is a basic human right, amount to defamation and invasions of privacy. It is also a prosecution and public trial by the Ministry official who has neither legal authority nor the jurisdictions to conduct a trial.
What makes the matter even worse and certainly shameful, is that the Ministry of Youth and Sport has been asking for calm and serenity while advising the media and sport personalities not to engage in public quarrels and accusations, at the time when both the Minister and his deputy , and now this official is doing exactly the opposite of what they preach and claim.
In some civil law jurisdictions, defamation is treated as a crime rather than a civil wrongdoing. Recently , Mayeli-Kohan was jailed for such violations and slanders , which was a strong message to anyone who dares to wrongly accuse others without evidence. Will this official be put on trial or will the government use its veto to cover his wrongdoing?
How long will the pragmatic and progressive President Rouhani , tolerate the Minster of Youth and Sports and his men, notorious for their meddling, agitations and public hostility with the football federation, is another question that is beginning to be asked by many observers.
A president who was elected on a campaign that promised free expression , respect for people privacy and letter of law must surely be embarrassed and concerned by the antics of the Ministry of Youth and Sport which has put the name of football in Iran in disrepute, according to Mehr News agency.
With the on-going interferences by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the working of FFIRI , the fate of football in Iran is being put in jeopardy and sanction. FIFA has a strict principle on the independence of football round the globe. In this 2011 FIFA article , much light has been shed on the term and the explanations provided by FIFA officials on the subject matter
Habib Kashani the former CEO of Persepolis club and the Manager of Omid Team has quit his job.
On his appointment for the highly demanding job after the Asian Games debacle, Kashani was in action quite quickly and managed to secure the services of Zlatko Kranjcar to coach the Omid team with the aim of taking the U23 team for the Olympics in Rio for the first time in 40 years. After completing all selection processes and formalities Ali Kaffashian announced the news to the press that Kranjcar has been selected and approved by the federation’s Football Development & Technical Committee. However, only a day later Kaffashian suddenly had a change of heart. He claimed that there is one more filter to go through before signing the contract.
That filter was none other than the Ministry of Youth and Sports , notorious for interferences in the work of football federation. The Ministry has previously been a strong opponent of Queiroz contract extension and now it appears that Kranjcar is not a suitable coach for the Omid team, according to their own football expertise panel . The Ministry keeps denying direct involvement, but both the Minister Goudarzi and his deputy Sajjadi have been vocal and consistent in their ongoing interferences on the pretext of providing advice, read order, to the football federation. Such interferences are in direct violation of FIFA
Kashani has issued a long emotional public letter on his resignation. He stated that he was not in need of or pursuing a job but was pursued by the federation for such a critical mission. With a 40 years absence being a black mark in Iran football heritage, Kashani had a national mission to answer, according to his letter.
"Although I believe that all the three organizations involved in the Omid Team, the FFIRI , The Ministry of youth and Sport and Iran Olympic Committee IOC, are sincerely and diligently working towards the success of the team top break this 40 years absence, I correspondingly believe that the establishment of a Technical Committee in the Ministry of Youth and Sport that can over-rule the football federation , is a direct violation of the football law and interference in the running of an independent NGO. However , I still respect that committee's decision if it was based on technicality and/or genuine valid reason.”
“Instead, an international coach with a pedigree and a resume of success in Iran and oversees is rejected based on non-footballing issues. This is totally unacceptable.”
“I still want to be a soldier and a servant for this country and in this respect, I shall resign my job to allow a suitable candidate who is capable of working with the trio of organization to achieve its goal of qualifying to the Rio Olympics Games.”
The Asian Futsal Confederation has named Iran's Ali-Asghar Hassanzadeh as the best player of 2014, per a letter the AFC sent to Iran Football Federation secretary-general.
Ali Asghar Hassanzadeh Futsal Team Melli Captain is currently playing for the Russian Club Norilsky Nikel .
Hassanzadeh was the only Iranian who has won any type of awards in the annual ceremony of AFC held in Manila. The controversial award ceremony, especially for the Asian player of the year, has been ridiculed by many experts and critics as not representative of Asian player’s standard and being politically motivated . No name and hardly known players win the awards while the best Asian players playing at the top leagues of the world are ignored.
This year's winner is a Saudi Arabian player by the name of Nasser Al Shamrani. This player has won the award despite 8 match ban imposed on him by the AFC Disciplinary Committee for spitting on an Australian player during this years AFC Champions League finals. Thus the AFC is sending the wrong message and shooting itself in the foot by selecting such a player!
The award was based on AFC attributing the superb and impressive show of Hassanzadeh in the AFC Futsal Championship 2014 and the eight goals he won in the games, made him known as the most valuable player of the continent.
The AFC says the prize for the best player of Asian Futsal will be sent to Iranian Football Federation in November.
Ali Daei and Homayoun Behzadi , two of Iran’s greatest footballers , along with former South Korean defender and coach Hong Myung-bo and ex-Australian international Harry Kewell were among the first 10 players to be inducted into the Asian Football Confederations' Hall of Fame.
Former Bayern Munich striker Daei played 149 times for Iran and scored over 100 goals for his country, while Behzadi who played in the sixties and the seventies was regarded as the best forward Iran has produced and all round multi-talented player.
Daei is still the world record holder for the highest number of goals scored at international level.
Harry Kewell, who was voted Australia's greatest ever player, was inducted despite many of his best years coming before the Socceroos were permitted to join the AFC in 2006.
Hong, frequently labelled Asia's best defender, captained the Koreans to a fourth place finish at their home World Cup in 2002, one of four finals in which he played at, as he racked up 136 caps.
He had a less enjoyable experience at the World Cup earlier this year as head coach when the team bowed out at the group phase with only one point and he soon quit the post.
The trio were named alongside Soh Chin Aun of Malaysia, Japan's Yasuhiko Okudera, Saudi Arabia's Sami Al Jaber and Indian Baichung Bhutia in the inaugural list.
China's Sun Wen, who scored 106 goals in 152 appearances for her country, and Japan's World Cup winning skipper Homare Sawa were the two women named among the 10.

The Captain of Team Melli U-23 , known as the Omid Team , has spoken to ISNA about the aspirations and the prospects of the team.
Behnam Barazay , the current Rah Ahan player and the Captain of the U23 team , believes in strong preparation games " unless we play against quality teams for our friendly games to get the big experience , I am afraid we will not be able to qualify for the Olympic Games."
The young striker , is also confident that the Croat coach Zlatko Kranjcar is the best candidate for the Omid team " He has coached at different levels, his record is quite good , he coached in Iran and his approach is professional. I believe he is the perfect coach for Omid Team."
"Although many players prefer to work with Iranian coaches, and I am one of those players , as communication is easier , however a coach in the class of Kranjcar can make a big difference." Barazay added.
Regarding the recent failures specifically in the Asian Games in Incheon, Barazay said " The players were under tremendous stress after the Asian Games. In the Qatar camp , quite a lot of work was done on the psychological aspect but fear of losing still causes a lot of stress."
About his own future career and whether he will follow his teammates Alireza Jahanbaksh and Sardar Azamoun in to Europe, Barazay Did not want to think about that for the time being although he received an offer from an Arab team. " All my concentration right now is on the form of my team Rah Ahan. I have not succeeded in gaining the full confidence of Hamid Estili yet. My goal is to do that. I need to get it right here in Iran before thinking about abroad and becoming a legionnaires"
The situation with the appointment of Kranjcar took another weird twist when it was decided that a committee within the football federation will have to examine the Croat coach resume and give its seal of approval before the coach can be appointed. This development cam up aright after Ali Kaffashian and Habib Kashani confirmed the appointment of the ex-Sepahan Esfahan coach as the head coach of the Omid Team. Many observers are suspecting some interference by the Ministry of Sport who always claims that they have no role in appointing coaches for National Team , but in reality they exert pressure on the FFIRI and Kaffashian to pass their own candidates.
