Omid Team qualifies for the AFC Championship U23 2020
Iran U-23 Team (Omid) has qualified for the AFC Championship U23 as one of the top 4 best 2nd ranked teams of the qualifiers.
Iran will join 14 Asian teams plus host Thailand for the final rounds
This AFC U-23 Championship will act as the AFC qualifiers for the Olympic football tournament. The top three teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics men's football tournament in Japan as the AFC representatives. As Japan had already qualified as the host team of the 2020 Summer Olympics, if they reach the semi-finals, the other semi-finalists are guaranteed qualification even before the phase commenced.
Uzbekistan are the defending champions of the competition last held in 2018.
