Team Melli Hopeful: Morteza Tabrizi

Morteza Tabrizi, is one more serious contender for a Team Melli jersey come June 2018 when the whole world will be enjoying the FIFA World cup 2018
A late developer in football, Tabrizi only came into contention a couple of season ago. Tall and skillful, he has an Ali Daei like style. His heading ability and goals from headers are becoming a trademark.

Tabrizi, unlike his surname suggests, was actually born in Hamedan on January 6th, 1991. Played his early football in Talar Vahdat in his home town then Mes Kerman. His senior career started at Pas Hamedan where the tall forward stuttered and only managed to score a few (5 goals) in just short of 3 years. Despite that , he was actually called for the Iran U23 team.

The break for Tabrizi came when he was transferred to Zob Ahan in 2013. The central forward was given ample opportunities to prove his worth and more playing time. Tabrizi`s confidence grew and with it came the goals.
Tabrizi towering physique helped him in scoring freely and specifically beating his markers in the air. He eventually attracted Team Melli selectors attention and was called several times, however he has yet to make his debut.
This season is by far the best that the 27 years old Tabrizi has played in his career. The AFC Champions league seems to be his favorite.

The only doubt that exists in this potentially great match winner is his confidence in front if the goal. He seems to be wasteful at times and could have scored many goals than he actually has if had more assertiveness and determination qualities. His conversion rate could be much better. A good mentor would make Tabrizi a great forward for steam Mell i.

The competition up front for places is quite stiff. In fact the best players of thus current Team Kelli are all forwards. Tabrizi will have a tough time dislodging the others for a place in that plane which will take team Kelli to Moscow, however, he has exceptional heading ability that only Azmoun can match in the squad.

Squad announced for Qatar and China matches.

A 23 man squad was announced by Carlos Queiroz for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Qatar and China.

The most significant omission in th list is that of Ashkan Dejagah who is out of match practise due to an injury. The Wolfsburg midfielder has yet to feature for his club un the Bundesliga after the winter break.

Others who did not make the list are Mehdi Torabi, Morteza Tabrizi and Masoud Hassanzadeh.

Team Melli will be leaving Tehran tomorrow Sunday on charter flight to Doha. After the match, the squad will be returning back to prepare for the china game.

Team Melli commence training.

Team Melli training will start in earnest after an initial squad was announced earlier today by Carlos Queiroz. Iran is facing Qatar on the 22nd of March and then 5 days later, will play against China in Azadi.

Two wins will go a long way in assuring the qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2018 Finals.

The squad includes domestic league players plus two from Qatar Star League while the European based players are excluded. According to FIFA rules, the club will only release the players 3 days before the official match, hardly allowing the players to gel in the team training.

the 19 selected players will commence training after the last round of the AFC champions League matches. All Persepolis players were selected despite the fears that the Queiroz might play hard ball and take revenge after his verbal war with Branko Ivankovic. and sending the Persepolis contingent back home from the training squad in Dubai.

One significant omission of the list is Andranik Teymourina , the captain and veteran Team Melli midfielder whose performance have been on the downhill this season. However , two players who have not been faring much better than Ando, have made the list.

Jalal Hosseini, (35 years) another veteran of the team made the list despite his poor all round performances with Persepolis this season. The aging central defender was blamed for two of the goals scored against his team in that match against Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions league 3-1 defeat , while more significantly , his slow pace and suspect control cost Persepolis dearly in several matches in the League.

Another Persepolis player who made the list , not on merit, is Ramin Rezaeian. The player has been suspended from his club for indiscipline and was thrown out of the team, yet he was selected by Queiroz despite being out of match practise.

On the bright side, Morteza Tabrizi who has been one of more significant Zob Ahan players, made the list after some excellent games in the league and the AFC Champion league. Ehsan Pahlavan and Sasan Ansari are two new players who have joined the squad for the first time, While Masoud Ebrahimzadeh makes a return after some absence.

19 players invited to Team Melli Camp 2017.

Carlos Queiroz invited 19 players to join Team Melli Training camp , which will start immediately without Legionnaire players and expected to continue training in the UAE as of next Tuesday.

It is still not clear if the match against Morocco is On or not. As always , FFIRI has a dysfunctional PR that refuses to give any details and leave the media speculating or seeking news about its own national team from foreign sources.

Three uncapped players were named in the squad ; Ehsan Pahlavan , Morteza Tabrizi (Zob Ahan) and Vahid Mohammadzadeh (Saipa Alborz)

It is not clear if any of the legionnaires will be joining the squad despite the fact that most European are in the middle of the winter break. is

EHSAN PAHLAVAN ; a future star in the making.

One of the real revelation of the league season is the 22 years old Ehsan Pahlavan a left midfiled player who plays for Zob Ahan in the Persian Gulf League.

Born in Khorassan in the city of Bojnord, Pahlavan has been spotted playing for a small club in Mashhad. He was selected for Iran’s youth team and by 2012 he was a wanted player from several big clubs. It was Zob Ahan who finally won him over as Pahlavan finally selected Esfahan as his platform for fame,

The midfielder has shown maturity well beyond his age with some terrific performances at the highest club level competition in the AFC Champions league this season, he has truly announced his arrival at the international football scene.

Pahlavan is not new to Team Melli jersey. He has already represented his country at several age levels in international and continental competitions. He has shown skills from early age and has been on Zob Ahan radar for a long time before signing him ahead of other interested big clubs.

This season , Pahlavan was facing a stiff competition to break into the team where Kaveh Rezaei , Masoud Hassanzadeh , Morteza Tabrizi and veteran Mehdi Rajabzadeh were all ahead of him in pecking order. However, not only did Ehsan show some real grit and skills beyond expectation, he forced himself upon coach Yahya Golmohammadi in all competitions by excellent commitments and performances.

Ehsan Pahlavan did not disappoint in all club competitions as he delivered some terrific games for Zob Ahan and some brilliant goals in the AFC Champions league to help his team qualify for the next round of the competition.

Carlos Queiroz, always with an eye for young talented players, has named him in the 32 list for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifiers.

Ehsan Pahlavan remains one of the best talents in Iranian football alongside names like Mehdi Torabi and Milad Mohammadi. His mature attitude and level headed approach to professional football would ensure that he will be one real prospect to look forward to.
