Fereydoon Zandi : The German born Iranian player , eventually made up his mind to play for Iran after a long debate and much thought by the young midfielder. Eligible to play for either Iran or Germany , Zandi opted to play for Team Melli to the rejoices of thousand of fans who petitioned him to join.
Born in Emden , Germany from an Iranian Father and a German Mother, Zandi played his early football in SC Freiburg before he transferred to VfB Lübeck where he really caught the eyes of the critics and German national team selectors. His splendid display for the club earned him a call to the German youth team.
Zandi season with Kaiseslautern was less than satisfactory as he rarely had playing time for the club.
On January 2, 2007, Zandi signed a contract with Apollon Limassol of Cyprus.
Since Zandi's return from the 2007 AFC Asian Cup he has be linked with moves to Steaua Bucureşti, Rapid Bucureşti and Birmingham City.[1]
On January 18, 2008, he joined Olympiakos Nicosia.
On March 24, 2009, Zandi signed Alki Larnaca for a one-year contract.He had his best season after 2 or 3 years and was the top scorer for Alki Larnaca. Iran
He joined the Iranian side Steel Azin in 2009 and stayed there for two seasons. On August 2011 he joined to Esteghlal[2] but he started season with an injury[3].On 22 October 2011.
