One of the many products of Khuzestan football. Ghasempour started his playing career in Abadan where he was first spotted by the youth national team selectors. He played with the national youth team and won the Asian Championship title as a captain of the team.
Ghasempour was subsequently transferred to Pas Club in Tehran where he made a significant progress . he was a member of the team in both Olympic Games Montreal 1976 and in Iran;s first appearance in the World Cup 1978 in Argentina.
Ghasempour subsequently played for several clubs outside Iran and he was the first Iranian player to play in the Egyptian League along with Barzagari.
