Andranik Eskandarian is another product of Ararat Teahran. The Iranian-Armenian , featured in the senior Ararat team in 1970, before he joined Taj Tehran (Esteghlal) two years later.
The tough tackling defender , was soon selected for Team melli and was part of the team that represented Iran in the World Cup 1978 in Argentine. Eskandarin got two yellow cards in the first two matches and missde the last one against Peru due to suspension.
His performance earned him a good reputation and was soon bough by the famous American team , the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League.
After the Cosmos folded in 1984, Eskandarian played for the New York Express of the Major Indoor Soccer League for a few years. From 1989 through 1990, he played for the New Jersey Eagles of the American Soccer League.
