Profile: Karim BAVI, #0
Bavi was born in Abadan and like many boys , started playing football in the various gravel and sandy grounds around the city. His first club was Bhutan before joining Javanan Abadan under the coaching of Reza Majdi. Then the war broke out and Bavi and his family moved to Esfahan temporarily before settling in Tehran.

In Tehran he continued playing street football until some friend recommended him to a club called "Poolad". The legendary Parviz Ghleechkhani was the coach and Bavi still fondly remembers those days with passion as Ghleechkhani in addition to Dehdari and Fekri where influencing the young footballer.

While still playing for Poolad , he was drafted in the military and went to fight against the Iraqi aggressors. Bavi was severely injured by an explosion and was sent to hospital where he was operated on but still has two shrapnel's embedded in his leg.
The operation resulted in one leg falling short.

After he recovered , Karim joined Shahin club which was under Mehrab Shahroukhi.Karim made his debut against Bank Melli where Shahin was a goal behind when Bavi was substituted in in the 70th minute. Mehrab was desperate and gambled on Karim. Young Bavi did not let him down as he gave an assist to Farshad Pious to score the equalizer.

Bavi became in Shahin and continued his excellent performances and soon became quite famous for his powerful heading ability. He was the league top scorere in the fiorst season with his club with 19 goals and soon after he made his debut for Team Melli.
