The second match of Team Melli in Asian Cup 1996 ended up with a victory after the disappointment of defeat against Iraq in the first match.
Mayeli-Kohan used 5 new players in this team, Moharrami , Saadavi , Minavand , Mousavi and Mansourian all made their debut in this match .
The win is more attributed to the individual skills of Iranian players rather than group performance. Thailand created a lot of difficulties for Iran with their fast paced passing and ball movements.
Mayeli-Kohan despite the win against Thailand admitted to some shortfalls in his team but promised a much better performance against Saudi Arabia in the next match. He was confident that his team will beat Audi Arabia. |
