FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 - QUALIFICATION ROUNDS

• Team Melli defeats Zambia 3-2 in Azadi with two penalties scored by Nekounam and Aghili , and a goal by debutant Gholamreza Rezaei.

• A disappointing goal-less draw against UAE in the WC2010 qualifiers in Azadi

• An Early Fereydoon Zandi goal seal a narrow 1-0 victory for Team Melli. Iran leads the group with 6 points.

• Team Melli qualifies to the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2010 after defeating Syria in Damascus 2-0 , goals scored by Gholamreza rezaei and Moshsen Khalili.

• WAFF championship to be held in Tehran from 7th August to 15th August with participation of 8 teams in 2 groups.

• Team Melli to set camp in Marbella , Spain from 20th July in preparation for the final round of FIFA World Cup 2010 quailfiers

• The last match of team Melli in the group ends with a 2-0 victory over Kuwait. Nekounam and Rezaei scored the goals.

• Team Melli is grouped with the Two Korea's , Saudi Arabia and UAE in the final round of the FIFA World Cup 2010 qualifiers in Group B. Iran's first match is  scheduled on 6th September away to  Saudi Arabia. Full schedule here

• The draw for the WAFF championship is held in Amman. Iran is grouped with Qatar & Palestine in group 'A' . Matches to be played in Tehran between 7th to 15th August 2008.

• Iran climbs 11 places in FIFA ranking in July 2008 table , second in Asia behind Japan.

• All the 3 matches in the Team Melli camp was cancelled by Spanish teams and English Club Charlton Athletic. IFF to seek FIFA advice on compensation.

• A new look Team Melli scores 3 goals to beat Palestine in the first match of WAFF championship 2008. Goals scored by Kianoush Rahmati , Gholamreza Rezaei and the debutant Sayed Jalal Rafkhahi.

• Team Melli defeats Qatar in style with a 6-1 drubbing in the WAFF championship 2008.

• A goal by Kianoush Rahmati and Gholamreza Rezaei against Syria sends Team Melli to the finals of 5th WAFF championship.

• A glorious long range strike by Kianoush Rahmati awards Team Melli the 4th WAFF Championship. Team Melli defeated Jordan 2-1 in Azadi to clinch the title.
