Iran played 13 games from the 4th, 5th and 6th tournaments winning all their matches scoring scoring 36 goals conceding 6 goals only.
In 1972 Iran won the Championship for the first time away from home. The star of the tournament was Hussain Kalani, dubbed the man with the golden head for his prowess as a prolific header of the ball. Iran is the only country to win three consecutive championship on a row.
