ALEXIS SANCHEZ’S talent was ‘not enough’ to save Chile in their friendly defeat to Iran last night, according to the country’s media.

The Arsenal ace came on at half-time in the 2-0 loss to Carlos Queiroz’s side, but the £35m man was unable to inspire his side to victory.

“His talent was not enough, because he had no space against an opponent that was closed to the fullest”

La Tercera’s verdict on Alexis SanchezGiving their verdict on Chile’s players, newspaper La Tercera wrote about the former Barcelona star: “His talent was not enough, because he had no space against an opponent that was closed to the fullest.”

While Sanchez was spared a dressing down, QPR duo Maurico Isla and Eduardo Vargas were not so fortunate.

On striker Vargas, the newspaper wrote: “QPR striker moved a lot, but accomplished little. Still in debt.”

Isla, who is on a season-long loan at Rangers from Juventus, also came in for criticism. “He stood on the right end just entered, but nothing came of his feet,” La Tercera said.

Former West Brom, Brighton and Nottingham Forest defender Gonzalo Jara also got stick after his below-par display, with the verdict: “Sometimes misplaced (as in the second goal), he ended with zero balance.”
